Consumer Price Index

This monthly news release from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) provides summary data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI is a measure of the average change in prices over time of goods and services purchased by urban households.  This measure is available for two population groups: (1) All Urban Consumers group which covers approximately 87 percent of the total population along with Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers which represents about 32 percent of the total population. The CPI is available by three indexes: (1) a CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), (2) a Chained CPI for All Urban Consumers (C-CPI-U), plus the CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W).

 Wage Survey

The Wage Survey provides employment and earnings estimates for about 800 occupations based on the Standard Occupation Classification (SOC) system. Data about the self-employed, owners and partners in unincorporated firms, household workers, and unpaid family workers are excluded in these wage and employment estimates.
