Annual employment averaged 1,951,864.
The greatest gains were registered in Management of
Companies and Enterprises and Real Estate,
Rental and Leasing.
Six of the major industry divisions showed decreases
from 2006 with Information exhibiting the largest loss.
35 of Alabama's 67 counties exhibited gains in average
monthly employment.

MANUFACTURING EMPLOYMENT |
Employer Contributions totaled $207,534,924 compared
with $224,036,684 in the prior year.
Contribution rates showed a decrease from 1.57 in 2006
to 1.43 in 2007.
For the sixth consecutive year (after conversion of industry
codes from SIC to NAICS), the lowest rate was in Utilities.

Manufacturing employment averaged 296,143,
registering a decrease of 2.2 percent from 2006.
Of the 21 Manufacturing Sectors, 17 showed
decreases over the past year.
The greatest over-the-year increases were in
Nonmetallic Mineral Product Manufacturing
and Transportation Equipment Manufacturing.
